Monday:
VR Adventure:
Just a standard little round of Supernatural. Nothing much to say here.
Food:
Cereal and milk. Veggie chips, and cooked black beans. 40 points (I started so well).
Weight:
197.8, respectable.

VR Adventure:
Not gonna lie, little hazy on some of these. I think also Supernatural? I’m writing this on Sunday, and I do not have a note.
Food:
Scrambled eggs and toast, taco salad, yogurt, and a PBJ. 60 (big mistake here, I got caught off guard. Should’ve been saving all my points for Thanksgiving.)
Weight:
195, Oh WOW. I’m not sure what I did to deserve that but I’ll take it. I weighed a couple of times. This was correct.
Today’s Awesome:
Don’t want to use land for solar power? How about water?

Wednesday:
VR Adventure:
Nothing on this day I’m afraid. A lot of life going on. Namely childcare + work since the daycare is closed.
Food:
Ham and cheese sandwich. Broccoli and cauliflower. Taco salad. Popcorn. Beer. 38 points. (Still not good. What was I thinking?)
Weight:
196.8, so yeah, even if yesterday was a fluke, this is still really good!
Today’s Awesome:
Well dang it. Looks like it’ll be quite a while before cars can actually drive themselves. CNN tested Tesla’s “full self-driving” and the car needed a human to take over every couple of blocks. Not great.

Thursday:
VR Adventure:
Nothing on this day either! Only real-life adventures dining and giving thanks on good-ole Thanksgiving.
Food:
CHEAT DAY. THANKSGIVING!
Weight:
197.8, Okay, sure we start gaining a bit back. Still really good for the average.
Today’s Awesome:
Mars doesn’t have a magnetic field, so even if we made an atmosphere by any number of crazy schemes, solar winds would just strip it away. Here is then a separate crazy scheme to give Mars a magnetic field.

Friday:
VR Adventure:
Ah! Here we get into a proper adventure. I finished the game Vader Immortal, chapter 1. It ended in a crazy bit of sparks. Like so:
Really cool experience, even if it was only about an hour long. There are two more chapters! I’m into it!
I also got a little further ahead in Jurassic World: Aftermath. The dang raptors are clever and scary. I’ve determined that I’m probably not cut out for sneaking around dinosaurs. Will need to train a bit more, in case I need that skill in the real world for some reason.
Food:
McDonald’s breakfast, and oatmeal. Salad. Chocolate chip cookies. 40 points.
Weight:
199.2, Dang it. There’s that Thanksgiving weight.
Today’s Awesome:
Computer science and engineering nerds have a meme question of “can it play Doom?” where you try and see if any electronic gadget with a display can play the computer game Doom. Like a calculator or a microwave. This test involving rats takes that question to a new level.

Saturday:
VR Adventure:
This was great! I got to share the VR experience with one of my sisters who came into town! She got the Beat Saber experience, of course. And enjoyed blasting away targets in the tutorial.
Meanwhile, I played out a workout in Supernatural that set itself as Thanksgiving themed, smashing targets to the oldies.
I was way excited to share the whole thing. Makes me want to dive more into social VR. Play games with other folks. Gawk at impressive vistas. If VR continues its upward trend, this could happen sooner rather than later.
Food:
Digiorno stuffed crust bake-at-home pizza. Homemade chocolate chip cookies. (37 points)
Weight:
199, Yeah, not good. But not surprising since food is still out of control.
Today’s Awesome:
Learn about superconductivity with this podcast, and how you could power cities across the country with a single water fall, or make trains as fast as airplanes, or power rocketry to get you further in the solar system, and how superconductivity had its own Woodstock of physics.

Sunday:
VR Adventure:
I branched away from Supernatural to head back into Beat Saber, as well as a new game from a Black Friday sale:
It’s a hack-and-slash with a tad bit of story. Story keeps me much more engaged than music and points, to be honest, so I was on the lookout for something like this. Not that there is much of a story so far. This poor fantasy land is overrun with monsters. That’s about it.
The mechanics are nice. The wider the sweep, the more damage the enemies receive. You can navigate with dashes into enemies, which works sort of like a teleport, which is really nice, my preferred way of navigation. It’s just really impressive.
I’m now more prepared than I was before to swing a sword, so long as the sword weighs a couple of grams, or whatever my controllers weight. And so long as my enemies have no physical resistance to them. Yes, then I am fully prepared for battle!
Food:
Same as Saturday! 40 points.
Weight:
199.6, Good grief. This is not a great way to end the week!
Today’s Awesome:
Not only could your roof generate electricity, so could your windows with solar powered glass!

Overall thoughts
Well, after all that, the average weight for the week was 197.9. Last week it was 198.5, so, down about half a pound. Not the worst way to get through Thanksgiving. Now it’ll be a struggle to navigate the dangerous landscape of holiday parties and treats. Staying active though, I think it’s doable. No shortcuts here. It’s going to be a tough slog.
Meanwhile, I’m also wanting to branch out to other games that provide a workout, just to get a bit of a break from the Supernatural vibe. Could be tough to find something quite as physically engaging, but if I find it, you’ll be the first to know. Thanks for reading!
