Monday, Leg Day
VR Adventure: Yes indeed today was leg day. VR isn’t only about smacking targets that fly at you. Games and apps can also take advantage of your head position to require you to duck around obstacles, or in this case, the giant triangles. All the squatting really brings out the burn!
Food: Chicken and veggies and ranch, ravioli and yogurt, 34 points.
Weight: 200.2
Today’s Awesome: Hmmm, innovative? Dystopian? Both? This takes investing in people to another level.
For Your Consideration: The Internet as fulfilled its purpose:
Tuesday
VR Adventure: Today we worked on our core. That’s about it. Just more hovering on a target in scenic locations while I blast away targets with bats. As one does.
Food: McDonald’s breakfast, garbanzo beans, and a cheese quesadilla. 31 points.
Weight: 199.2
Today’s Awesome: I much prefer this mind writing (where scientists help a paralyzed man write) to mind reading:
For Your Consideration: Send me your best British insults (you’ll need to tap into the tweet to see them).
Wednesday
VR Adventure: More standard Supernatural work and Beat Saber, as well as The Climb, where now I’m rock climbing in canyons with poisonous grips, grips that crumble, and so on. Just really makes me want to rock climb for real. Even if in a gym.
Food: Breakfast tacos, quinoa salad, a coke, whisky, yogurt, and veggie chips. 34 points
Weight: 200.2
Today’s Awesome: We’ve got racing flying cars!
For Your Consideration: Download the latest version of the Emperor’s clothes.
Thursday
VR Adventure: There I was, looking at the options for Beat Saber. I had worked through a goodly chunk of the campaign. I had played the custom albums in entirely new settings. There, though, was “Online.” Multiplayer. What does that even mean in a game like Beat Saber? Well, I’ll show you. Here are some folks jumping in.
Basically you’re a little avatar with little hands and you flail around! You’re like a Lego person at a rave. It’s crazy how much you can communicate excitement or hello. The other person and I just waved to each other frantically while in the level choosing stage. They frantically wave their arms, and I frantically wave my arms. It was, a weirdly magical moment, not to quite have someone on the same island, but to have our islands close together at least.
Food: McDonald’s breakfast, mix vegetables, quesadilla, humus, and veggie chips. 36 points.
Weight: 199.4
Today’s Awesome: It’s fun to dream about the upside of nuclear fusion and what it could do for the world.
For Your Consideration: Can’t argue with them.
Friday
VR Adventure: Finally finished my 7-day workout that I had started a couple days before the end of last week. Nicely rounded, full body experience. I think? I am not a fitness coach. It could all be smoke and mirrors. Trust no one. Except me. I gotchu.
Food: Roasted cauliflower and cheese, ranch, a coke, fish and chips, and a chocolate chip cookie. 35 points.
Weight: 200
Today’s Awesome: Tired of Google but not into DuckDuckGo or Bing? There are more options on the horizon.
For Your Consideration: This Twitter thread of someone with experience in transit going over an amazing fight scene in the Shang-Chi Marvel movie. Share it with all your transit-oriented friends.
Saturday
VR Adventure: No VR today but did get a delightful outdoor run in with Carrie and Jacob and the stroller.
Food: CHEAT DAY!
Weight: 200
Today’s Awesome: Space elevators! We’ve got some new materials to make them. We should just make sure they never, ever fall down.
For Your Consideration: Here is the space elevator falling down.
Sunday
VR Adventure:
Food: FAIL DAY. Did not intend to eat as much as I did, but it reached up to about 50 points.
Weight: 198.8
Today’s Awesome: I’m all for bringing back dinosaurs, but it’s probably not possible. What about bringing back some animals that disappeared because of us? It’s called de-extinction.
For Your Consideration:
End of Week Thoughts
We started off at 204 pounds.
First week’s average weight was 203.2 pounds.
Seconds week’s average: 202.2.
Last week was 200.76.
And this week was 199.83.
We’re hoping down about a pound per week and this week we broke below 200! Not bad. It’s going to be a long stretch. Nevermind that the holidays are here! Wish me luck!
